NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland Hosts Mother’s Day Brunch Honoring Retired Senator Paula Hollinger
Baltimore, MD – This Sunday, May 20th, NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland will be hosting a brunch celebrating motherhood by choice. The event, set to begin at 11AM, will be held at the Renaissance Harborplace Hotel in downtown Baltimore.
Keynote speaker, Nancy Keenan, President of NARAL Pro-Choice America, will speak about the defense of reproductive freedom. Keenan’s distinguished career has been dedicated to protecting a woman’s right to access safe, legal abortions and birth control and has led her to be known as one of the top pro-choice activists in the country. Named one of the top 100 most powerful women in Washington, DC by the Washingtonian, Keenan’s accomplishments are numerous; including, most recently, the repeal of the South Dakota abortion ban. Along with Keenan, other pro-choice leaders and abortion providers in Maryland will speak at the event.
The event will honor retired State Senator Paula Hollinger who has worked tirelessly to protect reproductive freedom in Maryland. Hollinger’s compassion as an advocate for patients and healthcare professionals led to the success of 1991 state law that codified Roe v. Wade to protect abortion as a matter of state law. In order to acknowledge Hollinger’s commitment to choice, NARAL Pro-choice Maryland will be presenting her with the Thurgood Marshall Pro-Choice Leadership Award.
Whole Women’s Health of Baltimore provides women’s healthcare, including abortions, serving the community with a holistic approach. As an important part of the abortion provider network in Baltimore, Whole Women’s Health will be honored and presented with the Community Outreach Award.
