BILL NUMBER

STATUS
Due Process- Right to Life (Senators Harris and Stone)
SB 427
Introduced February 6, 2008
SB 427 establishes that the right to due process and equal protection of the laws begins at conception. This is an obvious attempt to legally establish that life begins at conception. If these rights were introduced at conception, reproductive rights such as access to birth control and access to safe and legal abortions would be put in jeopardy.

Teenage Protection Pilot Program (Delegate Ron George)
HB 541/ SB23
Introduced February 6, 2008
The Teenage Protection Pilot Program requires that all teenagers in Anne Arundel County who are seeking abortions must be offered the opportunity to view their sonogram as well as the opportunity to receive a copy of their sonogram. This legislation is unneccasary because the sole abortion provider in Anne Arundel County has always provided both of these services. The purpose of this legislation is to undermine the professionalism of abortion providers and advance the notion that abortion providers use deceptive tactics.
