Montgomery County Residents: Support Honest Information for Women!
“Condoms do not work” and “condoms are not safe.” “[With abortion] there is a higher chance of developing breast cancer.” “You could become infertile due to the severe and questionable nature of abortion.” These are just a few examples of the inaccurate information that Montgomery County crisis pregnancy centers are telling women. On Tuesday, November 10, Councilmember Duchy Trachtenberg and six other co-sponsors introduced a measure in the Montgomery County Council that will let women know the limitations of the services offered by these facilities and ensure that women understand that it is important to seek medical treatment from a licensed health care provider. This sounds like common sense, but already anti-choice advocates are lining up against our bill. We need your help TODAY to show that there is support for this practical legislation. Please tell the council you support this proposed regulation. Send an email today! Crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs) often have a strong anti-choice agenda and discourage women from exploring the full range of their reproductive health options, including abortion and birth control. If you believe that women facing unintended pregnancies deserve honest, accurate information about their health care options, then please send a note to the County Council.
