NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland (NPCM), the state's largest grassroots pro-choice organization, has been working to protect choice for nearly 30 years. Our mission is to develop and sustain a constituency that uses the political process to guarantee every woman the right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices, including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion. NPCM is seeking a Programs Intern to provide to work on a variety of issues, provide staff support, and learn the inner workings of a non-profit organization. Responsibilities: - Help staff conduct educational outreach activities about relevant choice issues including, but not limited to, staffing community festivals and volunteer events.
- Assist with planning and implementing of signature annual fundraiser and other events
- Conduct research on various reproductive health issues
- Help with acquisition of new members and updating membership information
Qualified applicants will:
· Be a self-starter who is able to take initiative on individual projects · Be a strong writer, researcher, and editor; familiar with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and the Internet · Possess strong interpersonal communication skills · Possess strong organizational/multi-tasking skills, attention to detail and have an ability to meet deadlines on time · Possess ability to work well independently and in cooperative decision-making settings · Must support the full range of reproductive options for women including birth control, bearing healthy children, adoption, and safe, legal abortion.
This is an unpaid internship, but offers the opportunity to gain a range of meaningful experience. Class credit may be arranged with your college or university. Scheduling is flexible based on applicant’s schedule. A minimum of 15 hours per week is required. Occasional evenings and weekends required. Early Spetember start date preferred.
